Aziz is an associate within our Banking & Finance team in Dubai.

Aziz is a solicitor qualified in Scotland with over 4 years’ PQE. Having originally graduated with an honours degree in accountancy before going on to study Law, Aziz then completed his LLB and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Aziz is member of the Law Society of Scotland and is also a Notary Public.

Aziz is experienced in advising local and foreign banks, lenders and borrowers in relation to a wide range of transactions, including conventional loan facilities, and often acts as UAE counsel to both lenders & borrowers and advises on taking security over assets located in the UAE. Aziz also routinely acts for financial service providers providing cross-border advice in relation to regulatory & licensing matters as applicable in the UAE, including the ADGM and the DIFC.

• Acted as UAE counsel for the borrower in respect of the financing of a 500 MW onshore wind power project in Egypt.
• Acted as UAE counsel for the borrower in respect of the financing for the development, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 500MW solar PV power plant project in Egypt.
• Advising foreign financial service providers in connection with the regulatory and licence requirements for the promotion of financial products and services in the UAE, the DIFC and the ADGM.
• Advised an international card payment service provider in connection with its UAE financial regulatory compliance requirements.
• Acted as UAE counsel for a European bank in connection with two unsecured credit facilities provided to two borrowers incorporated in the ADGM.
• Acted as UAE counsel for a leading international events and publishing company advising them in connection with a $4 million increase in their existing term loan facility.
• Providing UAE law advice to a leading global trading and investment banking group in connection with the promotion and marketing of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the UAE.
