  • Alexander is an Associate within our Engineering & Construction team based in Dubai. He is cited as a key lawyer in Legal 500 (2024) for both Construction, and Arbitration and International Litigation, including a client testimonial: “Alex Wagg is very switched on, has excellent judgement, and is definitely one to watch for the future.”

    He has spent most of his life in the Middle East, having lived in Oman and Abu Dhabi, and has been based in Dubai since 1999. He has extensive experience of UAE law and assists developers, main contractors and subcontractors in arbitrations before DIAC, ICC, ADCCAC and, prior to the abolition of the DIFC Arbitration Institute, before the DIFC-LCIA, as well as related disputes before the DIFC courts, ADGM courts, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi courts.

    He has also acted as a Tribunal Secretary in a DIFC-LCIA arbitration. Prior to joining Hadef Partners Alexander gained experience in the Commercial and IP team at Clyde & Co in Dubai, and in the Dispute Resolution team at Trowers & Hamlins in Dubai, where he assisted with UAE litigation, and cross-border arbitrations.

    • Assisting a prominent Main Contractor in defending a claim before DIFC Courts for unpaid sums in relation to hire of machinery at numerous sites.
    • Assisting a Subcontractor in defending a claim before Dubai Courts commenced by an Insurer for in excess of AED 1 Billion relating to an insurance payout to a major Developer for a partially destroyed building.
    • Advising a Main Contractor on the effect of issuance of a Building Completion Certificate in Abu Dhabi.
